I don’t think you’re starting late- most don’t purity train until 2-3
It's not late at all! We tried at 18months, 2 years and neither age was good for my son so just started last month so 2 1/2 and it's stuck. For us my son was only possible to handle on the toilet seat that went on a normal toilet, wirh the steps, rather than a floor potty. That's just because I could stop him getting off easier. At first he hated it and would cry etc but we distracted him with stickers and just kept visiting the toilet (he was still in nappies) regularly to get him used to it. Then we moved to nacked/pants so he knew the sensation of a wee and after that he could tell us. Writing it now, it's sounds simple, but it was rly hard and alot of mess but that doesn't last long at all
That sounds early. If they aren't showing signs of being ready I wouldn't start yet cos it ends up as a lot of battles and accidents. Have the potty available at all times. Pick up on times they go such as after nap or waking. Distract once on with books, toys etc
Sounds like your boy might not be ready yet. Maybe wait a little longer.
Your not late. I tried twice while my lo was 2. He wasn't having it lol. Now that he is 3, we tried again and he is so excited! After each time, of course we scream and sing making it a big deal, but we also gave a "surprise " each time. So it could be stickers, a small piece of candy or popsicle (I just recommend sugar free lol).
22 months isn’t late at all, it would be very early. I would have a think about whether your child is really ready, as that’s the way to success.
I tried my 18 months old son but he will come off it and use the potty to play so I gave up. So 22 months I don't think it's late. I will say wait when he is ready
Oh crap potty training book. Good luck. Not too early to start. It says the best age is between 20-30 months
That sounds rough I’m sorry 💔 if you feel he’s ready for that transition post surgery then my tip is make the potty the most appealing place in the home. Warm, private, in a quiet carpeted area… have all the best toys there maybe even a screen and have the most focused playtime there. I would also start with a routine of once a day at the same time (after he wakes up in the morning for example) and then slowly work your way up. Good luck x
