IUD Insertion

Has anyone had their doctor use an ultra sound for an iud insertion? My doctor is saying it’s necessary but I’ve never heard of that. This is my first c-section though so I don’t know..

No I don’t think so.

Yes, my provider uses ultrasound guidance. It decreases the risk of uterine perforation when measuring the depth of the uterus.

Heyo, I'm a HCA and ran a contraceptive clinic. Some times, we need to use an ultrasound due to the cervix or uterus. Only some doctors do it, but after any copper coil is inserted they HAVE to do a scan to ensure it's in place, if they haven't used one to guide it

Ok thank you! I don’t mind the ultrasound, I just wasn’t sure if it would be covered by my insurance if not necessary.

@Chelsea if you're getting the copper coil, by UK standards yes, it should be covered, but you might need to check with your insurance company

I did! Us based here

Mine did 9 yrs ago.
