Hi mom, When my LO’s umbilical cord fell out. I inspected the area around his belly button to see if there was rashes or weird discharge coming out of it. Thankfully that was not the case. He had his first bath at the hospital at around one week, he was wrapped up in muslin cloths. However, I would still speak to your paediatrician before going ahead. It does look like your baby’s belly button has some dried up blood, even gently cleaning around the belly button with a wet q tip may help.

It’s not recommended until that stump has fallen and dried up. It’s a really easy place for bacteria to fester. Bathing also isn’t needed regularly and strips baby’s skin of their oils.

You can bathe your baby. Just be gentle on their skin use fragrance free soap ensure the bath water is warm not hot. Best to get a bath thermometer for babies you can find them on Amazon and use muslin To cover them in the bathtub and pour warm water so they don’t get cold while washing. You can use a soft sponge or muslin for the washing. Just ensure to be gentle, warm and safe :)

I have tub with temp checker on it. Only reason I wanted to give him real bath is he's been having hard time pooping and crying like he's in pain been rubbing belly and bicycling his legs but hasn't helped him just wanted to try a warm bath to see if that would help him be able to go.

My sons fell off a couple days ago so I bath him now. Just make sure to dry it nicely after the bath, and be gentle.

After it fell we used alcohol to help dab it dry. You could try that to help clean it up.
