Hey everyone. My breastfed nearly 3 month old boy hasn’t had a proper poo in about a week now. he is still passing gas and not showing any signs of being in pain. is this normal?

It is normal for baby to not poop for up to a week if exclusively breastfeeding. if he doesn’t poop within the next few days or so definitely contact your pediatrician.

thank you!

It happened to my son a few times. Usually they say a few days but baby shouldn’t go past a week without passing bowels. So you might need to try to trigger it. A tea spoon of grape juice or orange should do the trick. Make sure it’s from fresh fruit. After a few hours if he doesn’t go repeat again. Don’t worry just try this 😊

You can also pop in at a pharmacy but they might just give you probiotics which take longer

@Mina are baby’s this young allowed orange juice ?

If you were to pump your breast milk you can add an ounce of water x

@Hannah Dionne thank you

I had this with my daughter and she finally went today! I rang 111 for advise and they said feed an oz of cooled boiled water in the morning and again in the evening (not around times they would usually feed) and it will hydrate them and get Bowels moving. Could just be the change of weather recently as it’s getting warmer in the UK now 🤞🏼xx
