This happened to my daughter last week. Her GP advised if no change to increase the initial recommended medication dosage. Also would recommend the prunes pouches you can buy from Aldi. Which you can give by itself or mix in with something
My daughter suffers with chronic constipation and now on laxatives for the forseeable. She went 10 days without pooing, was in pain, vomiting and refusing to eat or drink so we couldn’t even ge the laxatives in her so we ended up in hospital and she had to have 2 enemas and now on laxatives to manage it. Prunes and things for us don’t really work as it’s not just normal constipation
Also how much of the laxatives is she on? I assume it’s probably movicol or laxido?
@Jess shes on 4 a day at the moment and can up it 8 a day if she doesnt go after 2 days. We are using the movicol. I know nothing like prunes or anything work for her right now. Shes seriously constipated and has been for so long! Its good for adding into there diet i guess though going forward for when your trying to wean them off the medication. Its so hard im worried sick about her xx
Ah bless, it’s so hard and stressful isn’t it. I’d definitely increase it more if she doesn’t go soon. My daughter can have 4 some days and still not poo 😫. It doesn’t help that my daughter is such a fussy eater so I find it so hard even getting veg in her
We used to give our daughter prunes, you can buy a packet and blend it up with other fruits like watermelon(which can help for hydration too), or you can actually buy little prune packets. Try to avoid foods that have a tendency to constipate, like bananas as they can give kids and adults. Also too much of the same foods can give constipation. We also had laxatives from our doctor and we found it took a week and half to kick in properly. Obviously different children will react differently. Keep doing it as many times as recommended but go back if it doesn’t work at all soon. We also used to lay my daughter down and do bicycle kicks, rub the bottom of her tummy gently and also warm baths. Sometimes even now warm baths help her poo especially when she’s not eaten as well as usual due to general toddler fussiness
Have u tried prunes I give them to my son seems to work quick lol
