@Molly I'm not entirely sure. At this point I'm willing to drive the 2 hrs away to the va maternity hospital to get my first scans done 😔
Do you HAVE to be under VA Healthcare? Can you maybe go under a spousal insurance or even marketplace insurance for now? Or through your current employer if you’re working? All of these would have significantly better care than what you’re receiving.
I contemplated going through the VA for my pregnancy, but since my husband’s military, I just decided to use TRICARE instead. I know it can be frustrating having to wait so if there’s any local ultrasound places in your area, I definitely recommend going to one just to see your baby and hear that heartbeat. I could never wait for both of my pregnancies for my appointment. I always had to see my little peanut before.
@Alyssa so it's the cheaper option bc almost everything is covered, so instead of having to pay over 4000 dollars to have a baby I'd only have to pay like 25. Which is why my husband and I decided for me to be under the VA. @Shemmka and ok i might do that then. It's super frustrating. And like I said it's the better option bc we decided for me to be a sahm and go to school fulltime since daycare would have cost one of our paychecks. We just decided it wasn't feasible or made any sense to have someone else care for our baby.
I would rather go to a civilian ob and for ultrasounds over the military at least in my area considering they’re very careless and rude. , I’d say personally change the place you’re going to, because what’s the point if they aren’t giving you the services you want and no ob or ultrasound is absolutely unacceptable because why can’t you see your baby. I would’ve went off on them by now you’re better then me 😭,
I’m going through caps for my ultrasounds and unfortunately I have to get an obgyn at my military hospital because the referrals take so long, haven’t had an ob yet and I’m 13 weeks, and now the military ob is making me do all this stuff just for an appointment 😒. It’s very frustrating so I understand your anger
If it’s like any other VA referral you should be able to call and ask for a different clinic/hospital. Usually their first option is one that’s closest to you within the network
The VA is absolutely horrible for care in general. I work as an occupational therapy assistant for older adults and I hate when I have to call into the VA for anything. I’m not too knowledgeable about insurance but are you able to go anywhere else other than the VA and be covered?
