It is from scans not bump measurements xx
Yeah Iām booked in for Thursday but I might be induced from tomorrow depending on how small little man is measuring š¢ they are such a worry arenāt they!! Where on the percentile was you last? Yours seems a little higher than mine maybe around 25th percentile? I think as long as they are monitoring you and doing whatās best for you and little one you shouldnāt be too worried. Itās good theyāve caught it now rather than later x
@Natasha yes I just donāt like not knowing lol I will know tomorrow tho x
I know the feeling. Itās so much anticipation š please remember that the scans can also be wrong and have a 15% buffer where they could be bigger/smaller and the later on in pregnancy it is harder to get these measurements as thereās less room. Just out of curiosity have you had much of a bump throughout pregnancy? Mine has been next to nothing and only the last week have I āpoppedā but even then Iām barely showing and if I wear a hoodie I donāt look pregnant šš
@Natasha it was big then it stopped growing itās been the same size for a while now xx
Small compared toā¦? I donāt really understand this chart - it looks quite different to mine. I donāt know what the bottom little black circles are? But the top plotted marks look like theyāre following a lovely curve when you look at the first and most recent?
@Gaby I know Iām so confused
The growth chart doesnāt necessarily tell you a weight theyāre expecting baby to be, but by the looks of it you can see that it looks like baby is dropping in centiles at each scan, which is what the concern will be. Remember that scans are not 100% accurate, and do have a margin for error on either side! I was induced due to our daughter having dropped down the centiles, with the consultant admitting that they couldnāt get an accurate read in the final growth scan due to her head being engaged so they couldnāt measure properly! She came at 39 weeks weighing 6lb 9oz so not overly small at all. Just go into your scan with an open mind but also, if you donāt want an induction and donāt think itās best for your baby, be prepared to discuss this with the consultant š
@Bec yes I wouldnāt go against induction because obviously they know better than me but I just donāt understand where they expect her to be tomorrow thatās all xx
Itās not necessarily an expectation as such, as all babies are different however typically from initial scan (so say 12 weeks) youād just want baby to continue on the same/similar centile (or roughly thereabouts) as this shows steady growth, making your plot marks on the chart go up in a nice curve following whichever centile line they began on š
If he goes back to the 50th next scan it means he has put weight on. He looks like he mainly followed 50th percentile and he has dropped since last scan x
If it was me Iād be asking someone to go through it in detail with me. Childbirth seems to be one of the only medical areas where they just expect you to go with whatever they suggest but you can ask them why. What are the risks if you just trust your body to grow your baby and donāt allow them to intervene? What are the benefits to them doing whatever they want to do? What does the scan actually show? What are they concerned about? What happens if you do nothing? Interrogate them. Ask them about accuracy. Theyāve NEVER accurately guessed a birth weight of one of mine. Theyāve always been like 2lb off. It canāt hurt to explore with them.
From growth scans, I measured on 44th centile at 31 weeks, dropped to 17.7 centile at 33 weeks, got to 18th centile at 35 weeks but then had a growth spurt and got back to 47th centile at 37 weeks so please try not to worry too much! Weights are just a guideline but itās amazing how much growing they can do in such a short time xx
