Potty training drama

Hi, I started potty training my lg today officially as she has two full weeks off of nursery for the Easter holidays and figured it was a good time to focus on it. She's done great today, 4 wees across the afternoon in her potty and wearing her 'big girl knickers' no accidents which is great. My issue is that she doean't want to ever take her knickers off🙈 had buckets of tears tonight because she's a big girl now and can wear her knickers to bed which obviously isn't going to be hapenning on the first day😅 We compromised by her letting me put them back on over the top of her nappy but has anyone had this before?! How long after potty training in the daytime did you progress onto dry nights?! As it feels like she's grapsed it and is stubborn about her efforts but obviously has never put it into practice. I'm also getting the feeling that tomorrow she will be just as upset about putting fresh ones on as she doesn't understand she can't just wear this pair now forvever🙈 Also send help please, first time mum trying to tackle a sassy pants with potty training on a deadline😆

Try letting her fall asleep in then them once she’s asleep try removing and replacing with a nappy and hopefully over time she will become dry and no longer need the nappy one same with if she naps for long periods during the day

@Lorraine I'll try this tomorrow night thank you! I don't really mind her having them on over her nappy but I worry if she does a wee or two in the night they'll stop her nappy having room to expand🫠

See how tonight goes or maybe once she’s asleep remove them. When my girl was potty training she was dry fairly quickly at night, had the odd accident so maybe invest in a waterproof sheet or the pads you can buy for the bed

@Lorraine fingers crossed my little one is the same, we've had a few morning she's woke up with a dry nappy and asked to use the toilet so i'm feeling positive about it🤞 I've got the pads down currently

Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

We started potty training in November and still in nappies at night time. We also did knickers over the top of nappy at nighttime for a while - I thought it was weird but mentioned it at nursery and they said they do it sometimes too. Now she accepts the nappy overnight - we use pull ups. Not going to tackle night times until she regularly has dry overnight nappies!

I stopped day and night at once I didn’t do it separately and it took only 3 nights. In the beginning I use to wake him up 1/2 times at night and tell him let’s go toilet, when you have to wee wake mummy up etc. I was prepared for accidents I believe the more accidents they have the sooner they learn. I just made sure my boy didn’t drink milk or any soft drinks at least 2 house before bed. Water was ok if he asked.

Tbf my daughter picked up the overnight-side, probably quicker than the daytime stuff. We've had one wet nappy overnight in the last two weeks and now we're pretty much onto no accidents at all - still don't feel confident enough to let her go without a nappy tho 🙈 although it did mean that she was up at 430 this morning for a pee

Could you get some pull ups with pictures on them? I've seen paw patrol and so on might do the trick x

Would it help if you call it her bedtime nappy? “it’s time to put your bedtime nappy on”. And use nappy pants at bedtime instead of nappies with the sticky things at the sides? x

My daughter is both day and nighttime potty trained, we waited for her to have dry nappies for a couple of months before we started to let her wear knickers to bed, we started potty training last September and she was fully daytime trained by Christmas and we started the night training in January and she’s only had 4 accidents overnight so far 🙂

Really helpful thanks everyone🙂🤞
