poop training!

my lo is 4 in june, he’s absolutely amazing with wee’s on the toilet but when he needs to poop he will not go unless he has a pull up on! i am at wits ends, ive tried the treats, the champion dance, stories on the loo, blowing bubbles when he sits on the loo and also tried the cold turkey where i refuse the pull up… they all have not worked. does anyone have any suggestions to how i can get my lo to poop on the toilet? he gets so upset to poop on the toilet and now works himself up over it so i now have no idea how to deal with it as i feel my emotions come thrashing down too being heavily pregnant 🥺. please help a mumma out!

Sounds really hard. Some tips that might help that I know some others have tried are micro steps and will need to be at his pace now he has such big feelings around it all. The pull up/ pooping needs to happen within the toilet setting. That once happened, poo to be put down the loo (added association of the fact that this is where poo goes). There is an app ‘poo goes to pooland’ so can talk about how poo needs to be flushed as per book. Could try a potty and putting the pull up open on that, if they would tolerate. Contact the ERIC team for more ideas!? Xx

Hey! No advice but we're in exactly the same position. He's fully continent and wees fine on the toilet but is holding his poo and will only poo in a pull up. We've tried all sorts of bribes and he doesn't care he'll just hold it and make himself constipated. He's scared to do it on the toilet, don't know why but we've tried everything. I'm going to make him a doctor's appointment next week because it's all getting a bit much now he's so upset when he finally does go xx

@Laura thank you for these tips! Going to try them with my little one x
