Average (and totally fine!!) is a big range, I think it's from 16-84. If you think about it 39 is very much 'in the middle', it's just not exactly 50th percentile. Babies love to worry us!
I never got told what percentile, how did you find this out? X
It was on the paper they gave me after the scan with all babys measurements on.
I was told my baby is on the 10th centile and that it’s nothing to worry about as they have little growth spurts. You will have measurements taken with your midwife and if they have concerns they will send you for growth scans etc.
The percentiles are based off population stats - so even if everything is ok with a baby some will be born big and some small. Most hospitals don’t consider small until the baby gets to under 10%. But even then it might just be natural variation - especially if the parents are short. The big thing is that they don’t suddenly drop many percentages. For example my first was 40% at 20 weeks and by 36 weeks dropped to 2%. That was an interaction something is wrong, then they do extra scans and monitor you. I knew something was up as my bump at full term looked like a small 25 week bump! If you get concerned later just ask for another scan. ☺️
Did they give u estimate weigh of baby. Today at my 20w scan I was told baby's weighing 344g (12oz) x
@Kerri I got an estimated weight of about 11oz x
Ours was measuring 6th and then rescanned two weeks later and jumped to 30-something. I understand your concern but I'd be guided by the midwives. Baby will have little growth spurts and worry the hell out of you in between x
