Potty training

Hi. We've been potty training my little boy for the past 5 days. He's been doing great at home. Usually has 1 accident per day and is doing poos on the potty. Today was his 1st day and nursery and hasn't gone well at all. He's gone through 7 sets of bottoms so far today! He's got 1 more set of clothes left so they said they keep trying with him and if he has another accident we've agreed for them to out him in a nappy. They suggested continue training at home but may be worth keeping pull ups on when we go out/ nursery. They said he wasn't even telling anyone he had an accident. Would this confuse him or is this a good way to do it?

I would be reluctant to put pull ups on as I think it’s confusing to flit between having a nappy on then not. Is it worth speaking to them to ask them how they’re going about it? Does he know who to tell he needs the toilet? Do they prompt him? It might be that he just doesn’t know what he’s meant to do at nursery. X

So they said they're asking him if he needs to go and then will take him to the toilet regularly for him to try. Not sure if its more due to the amount of distractions they have. They said he had an accident outside and didn't even mention it but at home he would have been really upset. My husband is picking him up tonight so will try and get more info then. I agree though think it will just confuse him more x

Can they/you use potty training pants rather than nappies?

My LB has been potty training about 6 weeks now and is in pants 95% of the time. We still use pull ups for long car journeys / naps / at night as a safety net and he doesn’t actually wee in them, he stills holds it when in a nappy and uses the toilet instead. So just some reassurance that it might not confuse him as it hasn’t confused my little one at all if he’s in a nappy for a bit x

We're nearly 2 weeks into potty training and the nursery told us it's common for them to have lots of accidents at nursery to begin with even if doing well with it at home. My boy had lots of accidents last Wednesday and then Thursday, hardly any there. I would keep persevering and not change to pull ups if you can help it (excluding bedtime and naps) and the more consistency there is, in theory should pick it up quicker x
