How do you know how much to bottle feed if you’re EBF?

I EBF my 3 week old but I do have expressed milk I’m saving. My question is how do I know how much to put in a bottle to give him if I only bottle feed once in a blue moon?

I’d err on the side of less to avoid wasting breast milk! If your baby finishes it all, you can warm up more milk, but if they don’t finish, you can’t really save the milk that wasn’t consumed

At this point start with 3oz at a time babies usually drink between 3-4 oz directly at the breast

@Julianna good point! My friend saves her baby’s leftovers for bath milk

Have they been weighed recently? There are some calculators online but i believe a baby less than 1 months old needs at least 180ml per kg per day. When I was EBF I always tried to give a bit more. Using a bit of formula now and it fills her up a bit quicker

I never gave my daughter more than 3oz. Ur milk evolves with them as they age. The average breastmilk bottle is 2.5-5oz I mean u can do a weighted feed. You weigh them naked. Breastfeed them, weigh them again and that's a rough estimate of how much they drink. You'll have to convert the pounds to oz/mL tho
