Potty training

My son will be 2 on the 13th of April. He’s been really good at peeing on potty and staying dry. He still struggles to tell us when he has to go…occasionally he will. My main struggle is pooping on potty….how do we get him to go poop on the potty and let us know before hand he has to go? We want to get him fully potty trained as close to his 2nd birthday as possible. We’ve also got an almost 4 month old.

From what I've heard thr letting you know that he needs to go comes with time. How long has he been training? It might not happen until after he is 2. As for poop my son will normally go at first wake and then after dinner. He has a poo stomp dance of running laps and stomping after dinner and I can tell by his agitation. Also if he withholds pee or has an accident its a sign of an unscheduled poop that he's trying to hold. I coach the poo on the potty with grunting and telling him to open poop gate and let it slide out. When he was 15mo I had to wait for it to start coming and him start to grunt and I ran him to sit on the potty and he started getting used to releasing it squatting there and gradually he started giving more warning (with a specific look and grunt) for getting him there. He wants to use the potty which is v low on ground so he can squat. Yesterday I tried to get him do goodnight wee on a taller potty. He got up went to small potty and pooped there ❤️🥳

To get him on schedule I experimented with fruit in diet, withholding banana until he did morning poop and if he didn't do it, giving extra pear/apple/prune and a tablespoon of olive oil. I also think it's important to show them when you poop so they don't have shame. Hilarious if they start clapping for you pooping as well 🥳🙈😅😅😅. My son learned the word poopoo at 17months but he's using it to mean weewee as well though before he said "wawa"

My son poops some what on a schedule depending on what he eats…
