Childcare

Hiya, just hoping someone could explain this to me please. How does claiming the childcare back from UC work? Let’s say childcare costs me £600 per month. I get paid from work, I pay the childcare costs and then upload evidence that I’ve paid. Do I have to wait until the next month to receive this money back? So I would be out £600 until the next month? Just wondering as I wouldn’t have much money left to pay for anything that month if I wouldn’t get the childcare costs back. Thank you!

Yes, unless you pay childcare a few days before your UC payment. I get paid 26th of month, pay childcare cost a couple days after and submit evidence as soon as I’ve done that. Then UC pay me on the 7th of each month, so it works out I’m not waiting too long!

I pay my childcare by the 1st of the month and need to upload the proof before 10th. I then get the payment from UC on 17th. I hope this helps

Just remember UC will only pay for the childcare in your assessment period x

Okay makes sense! Thank you everyone! x
