Are you changing in the same spot? My son was doing this because I was interrupting his play time to do it wherever. Now, I take him to his room to the changing table where I have some of his favorite toys and it has reduced the fussing to almost zero.
@Deidre I change him almost anywhere lol but I’ve tried letting him watch tv meanwhile or even play with a toy or anything around but it’s the same reaction
Maybe take him or have him walk to a designated space that is always the same and see if that helps. So he knows its diaper time. Otherwise he is probably irritated at you interrupting whatever he has going on. 😝 If I try to do it wherever, it’s like wrestling an alligator and he whines and tries to escape. Or even try getting a small blanket that you always change him on so it’s an association. After a few times, when he sees the blanket, he will get it.
I am a Montessori teacher and my daughter is almost two as well. I recommend standing him up to change and when you wipe him you have him touch his toes. It gives them more control and helps them become more independent. https://www.montessorichild.com.au/blogs/news/17497868-standing-nappy-changes-why-how
We have long had diaper changing issues. Most recently, it has been the holding his legs and feet that is the real issue (or maybe it has been all along and he is just now able to communicate it). It’s the lack of control and him feeling restrained. Since I have let him hold his feet back or hold his legs up, it’s been so easy. It will probably change tomorrow but this is what is working today 🫠
I think he’s ready to potty train, my girl has started the same thing.
Same, I keep asking if something hurts but there’s no visible sign of a diaper rash so idk, hopefully it’s just a phase!
