Placentas

You ladies are talking of having anterior or posterior placentas? How did you find this out? The position of my placenta hasn’t even brought up at scans, so I assume everything is fine? Just looking for some reassurance

I had a private scan at 16 weeks and they told me. I have my 20 week scan on Thursday so I’m assuming they’re say the same. Feels like having an anterior placenta is a big thing but I don’t think it is. I’ve been feeling movements since 16 weeks.

I have my 20 week scan also on Thursday @Petrice ☺️ I have posterior placenta I been told in one of my scans.

@Sara I wasn’t told at my NHS 12 weeks scan so it surprised me at the private scan. Hope all goes well for you on Thursday 😊 It’s so exciting.

I never got told about my posterior placenta, I seen it on my notes app on nhs badger app. Says at the very bottom of my 20week scan that I had it. Makes sense because I’m not showing much but I’ve a small bloated bump but the kicks are very very strong

I had a private scan at 16 weeks and got told, mine is anterior this time around I had a posterior with my first daughter. They’ll tell you at your 20 week scan if you ask x

I think the issue with the anterior one is if it is too low, and they would bring it up at 20 weeks. This is because even if it is low before 20 weeks, it usually "rises" with your uterus growing by then, and becomes nothing to be concerned about at the 20 weeks scan. My understanding is that anterior/posterior are just variations of normal. If you have an anterior one you might feel less movement, or movement later in your pregnancy, but I think that's pretty much it.

Just had my 20 week scan and they told me I have an anterior placenta but it’s not lying low so nothing to be concerned about. I can feel baby swirling around and get the occasional kick but can only really feel when I’m lying down.
