Tantrums only for me during nappy change

Help I’m going out of my fucking mind as I can’t do a single nappy change without the most insane tantrum ever and it takes at least 30 mins. My partner has never witnessed this as he’s at work and when he changes him he lies still and calm for some reason. I’ve googled and already trying everything I saw there but it’s not working. He throws himself around so bad and screams and is soaked in sweat and so am I. I have prolapses and it’s not helping. He also didn’t get changed much by me until about 6 months in as I was so ill with heart failure from pregnancy so not sure if that’s why he acts different for his dad as he’s changed him from day 1. I’m going insane already dreading the next one. He just wants to be put onto the floor so he can run around

I’m so angry about it as my partner doesn’t understand and thinks I’m exaggerating and says just put him on the mat and hold him down but none of that works

Our LO also usually fights lying down for nappy changes. We sing with her or give her something to play with which helps

@Laura I let him stand and give him toys or let him grab whatever random thing he wants even things he shouldn’t be touching and it makes zero difference

Sounds awful for you! We get this to an extent but it sounds like it’s really hard for you… I try to do something unexpected each time like pretend I’m an animal or sing a song about his favourite toys… it occasionally buys me about 4 seconds 🫠 Good luck!

we had the same problem since maybe 10 months , i was sweating and dreading every nappy change, in the end i am changing him while he stands, watching tv and pull ups ..sometimes i do run after him but i close the door so he is more restricted. They are much better now as he hates lying down and won’t do it..i hope your situation improves as i know how annoying and stressful this is. 🌹

I do it standing at the TV too! Not ideal but better than the alternative 😂
