Fit to Fly letter

I'm 22 weeks and l be flying BA soon. I got a fit to Fly letter from my midwife but it's not officially "stamped", like they say on the BA website. Has anyone flown BA, have you had any issues?

Why would you need one so early? I thought it’s only from 30+

I didn't realise this was a thing, so do you have to get a fit to fly letter before going on a plane? I'm going away in May, I'm guessing I would need one too?

I'm also flying at 22 weeks and asked my midwife about the fit to fly letter, but she said I don't need one as airlines only ask if you're 28+ weeks

I’ve been worrying about this too as I’m flying at 24 weeks and BA want a letter for any travel but my midwife also has said she doesn’t have a stamp. Looking online I think it’s okay as long as you have some sort of letter with the correct dates on x

I flew at 24 weeks and didnt need anything x

I'll be flying at 25 weeks and won't need anything. You'll need a fit to fly letter from 28 weeks from what I'm aware x

BA asked for a letter when I was 16 weeks because I had the TFL badge on. They would not let me get on the plane without it, although their website says it's needed after 28 weeks. I guess it depends on the agent at the gate, but it's a pretty big risk to take for me, so was wondering if anyone flew with the midwife letter and that was enough.

That seems very early to need a fit to fly letter. I just flew BA to Dubai at 19w and nothing was mentioned. I would just hide your bump personally

I also flew at 24 weeks and didn’t need anything x

I'm 20 weeks and flown twice with BA already this pregnancy. I didn't give them anything but I guess I wasn't showing so they weren't to know.

I flew at 6 months and I had a big belly I just didn't tell anyone 😂 the person at the desk asked me if I'm pregnant I just said no and they didn't say anything else 😜😅

@Hafsah did you act extra offended when they asked you? 😂😂 I would’ve totally tried to make it awkward for them haha

@Kate Yes I had a shocked face when she asked and said no I'm not 😂😂😂 she just went quite and I went through the gate I actually tried sucking my belly in as if that would've helped 😂😂😂

I recently flew BA and didn’t know anything about their form, I was under 28 weeks so didn’t need anything from the midwife. I informed the gate agent that I was pregnant and she called a company called Medilink and they asked me questions about my pregnancy and then let me board. She said it was a new procedure, they asked me to have the form ready for my return flight which obviously I couldn’t as I couldn’t get my midwife’s stamp while I was in Dubai. So I just informed them at the gate again, no issues. I don’t think it’ll matter if the form isn’t stamped. It’s just a BA specific procedure and seems overkill to expect a midwife to sign it at this stage

@Hafsah that’s hilarious I bet they wanted to die inside! 😭🤣

I think that's the funniest thing I've heard lately :))) I would have loved to see the faces!

@Irina did they let you board in the end? I also thought it was 28+ but seeing this post checked their website and they seem to have updated it without the weeks indication. Flying BA too in ten days when I will be 23 weeks and wont see my midwife until week 26. Did everyone request the form online or..? Thanks

With my last pregnancy I flew BA at 35 weeks and they didn't need anything.
