Low blood sugar 37 weeks

Anyone get real clammy/shakey/weak if they haven’t eaten? Super worried about Elective c section that I’ll feel like this, not be able to eat and then pass out!

I was worried but they give you a drink to have before you have to go nil at the mouth with lots of liquid calories xx I get low blood sugar so was really worried I felt like I was going to faint a bit due to fear of needles but it wasn’t half as bad as o thought They also said I could chew chewing gum

@Chloe was this standard practice or because you had a blood sugar issue or diabetes etc? Because I didn’t get this at mine? I was nil by mouth from the night before and therefore at home and hadn’t been given anything to have, so if it was standard practice in your trust it isn’t standard practice everywhere. I’m in Bucks if that helps the original poster

I’ve just flagged it up to my midwife and will at my pre op to hopefully Mean I can have a morning slot because I’d really hate to have to hinder myself if I ate something! But honestly get so shakey without food x

Before section in morning you have to drink so much of a sugary drink- they will tell you in your pre op! So you do have some sugar in your system so don’t worry too much! (Think one is apple juice) I felt faint at 4pm just before I went in (emergencies beat me too it many times) but I was absolutely fine. I always feel faint and strange in a morning if I don’t have anything but the drink helped x

@Jess again I didn’t get this. So weird how it varies from one trust to another!
