Constipation

***UPDATE*** I tried the idea of blending all the food with the sauce. I also added mince. I made it with pasta for dinner tonight. He had about 3 picks at the pasta and then left it 😑. Hey, I need some advice please. My 2 year old son keeps struggling and his poos are quite hard. The problem is he won’t eat any veg we give him. I give him pear and prune pouches to help the fibre etc. He drinks juice every so often and prefers colder water. Is there anyway of getting him to eat dead veg, anyone got any good recipes. The last time he had this problem was because he was drinking full fat milk and when he went on to soya milk he was fine. As I’m lactose intolerant. So any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you ☺️

You could hid it in a pasta sauce, make soup and blend it in. My aunt had to do it with my cousin as he won't eat veg. Still doesn't now at 32!

@Sophie he had rice tonight with a sauce that had peppers and onions in and he picked them out 🤣🙈. He physically handed them to me.

@EmilyGrace cheeky monkey! Could you blend veg in? If he'll drink smoothies, you could make smoothies with veg in like carrots, spinach etc?

@Sophie potentially. I have never tried that before. He used to love his veg. He used to love sausage and mash and veg and now wont touch any of it. Xx

@EmilyGrace ah that's annoying! It may be worth speaking to a pharmacy to see if they can suggest anything to help the constipation. There's some things you can buy over the counter or they can recommend x

@EmilyGrace I blend all the veg (literally aubergines, courgettes, carrots, peppers, onions, tomatoes) and make lasagne sauce and since he started eating this no problem. We had serious constipation problems before. I would recommend adding probiotics like bioray

I would blend veggies in his pasta sauce. Blend them up completely or use mashed sweet potato in tomato sauce to make it slightly sweeter

I use optibac and it did help with bowel movement

And he won’t go for fruit eh? Not even berries or apples ?

Pasta sauce!!! Roast everything and blend it. You can also buy freeze dried veggie powder on amazon

Thanks guys I’ll try the blending method. Yeah he loves his fruit. Apples, grapes etc

I would also blend like make a big tomato based stock and freeze in batches so you can add bits to beans and pasta sauces cottage pies etc 😁 or get him into helping make smoothies try his favourite colours. I feel for you my little girl was the same (she's 4 now and it's only been since Xmas she has gone properly) it's horrid to watch. We also went with calfig you can get from a chemist it's natural and is essentially figs as prunes stopped working after a bit last one haha tangerines or sweet clems will help loosen it. Sound like a poo expert 😂 but we tried EVERYTHING

Hey, kiwi fruit is supposed to be brilliant for constipation. I’ve had a lot of friends recommend this. I recommended to my sister in law a few years ago for my niece as she was always constipated and had to take medicine and she said it worked brilliantly and she no longer needs the medicine xx

My daughter's GI said kids who eat sugar aren't constipated, suggested Nutella. I suggest upping his healthy fats: olive oil, coconut oil, chia and flax seed, plant based yogurt, cashews, nut butters. Also juicey watery fruits: mandarins, grapes, watermelon, mango. Lastly half a tsp of benefiber in a cup of watered down apple juice. Herbs: dandelion root with crush fennelseed. 1tablespoon of both herbs, 1 cup water. Boil in sauce pan and give him a tablespoon a few times a day. Works by bringing water into the colon. Also has to be dandelion root and not leaf. Leaf Isa diuretic

Prune puree and mango smoothie!
