It's technically against policy at my job but if I have a spare 5 min I go play a little, but there's no way I could do it full-time :(
If you don’t mind me asking I’ve been looking for a remote job are they hiring!!
If you have your baby on a schedule and they nap well it could work but it is challenging. I work remotely and I have a part-time sitter. I have days where I’m by myself and it’s not easy but it will get more difficult once she starts crawling and walking. I recommend getting help if you can. What I do is power through work when I have help and during her naps, then when I have to take breaks to care for her I’m pretty caught up with work, and I just work as efficiently as possible. I try to prioritize easier tasks for when she is awake then I can work on my laptop while watching her play and interacting with her, then working on more focused tasks when she is napping or I have help. There is a small group on here for moms that work at home - SAHMs who work remotely
It’s really only possible for so long in my opinion. I work remotely twice a week and keep my baby home. They are definitely my least productive days but I wake early to finish a chunk of work and then in each of his naps. I don’t constantly play with him or anything but he needs attention fairly frequently. I have a sitter for half of one day. My friend told me she could manage 💯 remote until baby could move around. Then it was nearly impossible without her work suffering.
I think they’re legally required to give you some sort of lactation accommodation if you’re in the states. For me it’s an additional 30 minutes of break, so that’s helped out with feedings and whatnot. The swing has also been an absolute huge help, my baby loves being in that thing. If he gets too fussy I take some of my break time to feed him or comfort him. If he’s happy and quiet , I can have him in my lap. My toddler, however, that’s a different story. Also depending on your immediate supervision , they may not be too strict. None of my team leaders in the past have actually cared if they could see or hear our babies. Unfortunately, my current one does so I have to be a little more careful.
