Please tell me I’m not alone

My boy will be 15mo next week and is still drinking formula. He’s waking 2x in the night for bottles and has 2/3 throughout the day of about 6oz. He does eat food but not amazingly and I think it’s because he’s filling up on formula. We’ve tried cows milk several times since January but he suffers with chronic constipation and has been on multiple laxatives long term but cows milk makes his poops so hard he’s screaming in pain and it’s caused bleeding on multiple occasions so we’ve stopped again for now. I guess I’m just looking for other Mums in a similar situation and how to try weaning the night feeds. He won’t drink water in the night the tried but I’m worried it’s just habit now and apparently they need to be off bottles by 18m but how can I when he’s still so attached. Feeling like a bad mum today👍🙃😭

Mines up for breast like 5-10 times per night. And checks in through the day to check I'm still his bi**h. Which I am 😂

My little girl is exactly the same at the moment so you're not alone in this!x

Have you tried alternatives such as Oat milk? My little girl would not take cows milk and when she did she used to scream in pain around an hour afterwards, tried her with oat milk one day as it’s all I can drink and she’s taken every bottle since. Might not work for everyone but it worked for us so I’d recommend maybe trying xxx

We cut out the 3rd day time bottle by swapping for a snack and she just adapted well, he might surprise you! Even just some fruit or a yoghurt would do. For night time, try offering less milk each time, and you can water down the milk gradually as well so its less appealing. I wouldnt stress too much about getting 100% off bottles, rather focus on really getting the volume of milk in 24 hours down and food up. Many of us still do morning milk and bedtime milk in a bottle, its not ideal but dont try and tackle everything all at once xx

We still have 2 night feeds during the day and about 2 bottle in the day and we use soya milk due to a milk allergy. Try swapping one of the bottles for a snack during the day x

@India be careful with oat milk as it’s really high in sugar and can exceed their daily recommended allowance. That’s what we give our little one too and then I read about the sugar content and was like yikes! and found the ‘growing up’ oat milk is lower in sugar. You might already use the growing up milk but just wanted to say if not 🙂

Youre definitely not alone! My 14 month old is still on formula - 1 bottle in the evening before bed and sometimes 1-2 bottles through the night :( We've also tried to introduce cows milk but it has the opposite effect and she gets bad, mucusy diarrhoea, so we've stopped yet again and are trying to introduce it incredibly slowly. It's really frustrating.

Thank you everyone! I think I’ll try introducing an alternative milk but I’ll hold off trying to wean off night feeds until next week, his molars are coming in at the moment and he’s extremely sensitive🥲
