@Aggs thank you I appreciate that. As soon as I saw a comment notification I was like damn here we go 😒 so happy it was a positive one! ❤️❤️
Yeah agree ! I used to be like: my kid is never getting screen time, but then she would scream in the car and I was like I’ll either have a mega stressful journey and let her be upset for no reason, or I’ll just give her screen time. 🤷🏼♀️ Also as a mum of two sometimes I have to resort to screen time or I’ll never get anything done, or the toddler will wake the baby. There are also a million other reasons like the one you’ve just said. I think as long as you’re not just ignoring your child and plonking them in front of tv all day, there’s no need to feel guilty. I have the Amazon Fire and quite happy with it.
Amazon fire tablet all the way, with a protective casing. I got 4 kids all of them all started out with Amazon tablets can’t go wrong for the money, then when they turned preteens high school age I went to iPads where they look after them more. Will be purchasing an amazon one for the baby of the family (2yo) in the next week or so ready for our first long haul flight! X
I just bought one for £15 on temu and it works fabulously. Sit and watch Blippi while I do my housework 😂
We have the amazon fire tablet and its bril
Amazon fire tablet. They are slow and no where near the performance of an ipad but im also not at all worried about it getting damaged. She also really loves her yoto
I give him my own phone at times like those, but I go into the video gallery. For some reason this kid loves watching videos of himself, family and friends and recordings of places we’ve been, he can watch them over and over again and I have SO many, I have like 4000 vids in my gallery lol so he’s got thousands to scroll through. It’s funny, sometimes he’s got my phone and my friends asking “what’s he watching?” And I’m like, “himself” 👀👀😂 I do have an Apple Watch though so if any calls or msg or notifications come through I can see it on my watch. It doesn’t take up my wifi/data either
Probably could get an Amazon one second hand then get one of those gel protective cases that covers the whole thing
Amazon fire as it's quite safe and intuitive, has lot of educational games too How old is your toddler? I also say try to include him in your groceries, depending on his age, let him help you, grav stuff, scan stuff, it's also good for them to build confidence for later. You could also get your groceries delivery to avoid the stress
I got my older kids the android 7" kids tablet. They love it. It has parental co tools. One side for kids and other side for adults so you can go in and put what type of apps you want and such. It also has a handle for them to hold which I love. Comes with the case too and cheap on Amazon. 😁
My daughter has a new iPad now because her older one she put in the bathtub a week ago.😩 Be sure to get one with good amount of storage to save videos and games for offline usage if you don’t get an internet plan on it.
@Marie🩵🩷💚 he’s 1 (22.5 months) and honestly we’re just not there yet. He’s not a calm toddler. He likes to throw or knock stuff over or try to eat stuff. I’m a single mom and do everything myself, I just don’t have it in me to make grocery shopping a teaching moment right now. Maybe when he’s a lil older. I didn’t have a car for 6 months and got groceries delivered the whole time, it’s a horrible waste of money. Fees to have them delivered, incorrect items, rotten produce, and then you still have to tip. It’s not worth it unless it’s once in a while but not for an entire $400 grocery trip
@Schérie my iPad is so old that I thought about giving him mine. It still has the button and fingerprint to unlock lol. But it’s not in my budget to buy myself a new one so I’ll probably go with the Amazon tablet!
@Kellie yeah I do that now but it’s just not working. He’s constantly pausing it or locking it or dropping it and I cannot afford a new phone right now. Rather get him a $100 tablet vs giving him my $1000 phone lol.

My girl just has my husband's old iPad. If you have an iPad, maybe it's time to upgrade and he gets the old one haha.
Sorry I don’t have a recommendation, hopefully someone else will. I just wanted to say you absolutely never have to feel like you need to justify why your child may need or not need one. Screentime is a multidimensional issue, it’s not simply good or bad. You do you and ignore unwarranted opinions on this. Good luck!
