Hi! Not a preemie mom but this seems to be the only active group for NICU.

Hello!

I am also a full term nicu mom. My lil guy was diagnosed with HIE. Spent almost 3 weeks in the NICU.

Hi! Full term NICU mama here as well. Also an HIE mama too @Delainey!

My little had a pulmonary hemorrhage and was on ECMO for three days. She probably could’ve been discharged after two weeks, but struggled for two more weeks with feeding.

@Akia after a week of dealing with the feeding and then not letting me breastfeed ( which he did way better than a bottle) my husband got frustrated at the over night nurse in front of the charge nurse. They kept giving him his feeding via his tube and he never got hungry enough to wake up. Even though we gave him all his feedings via a bottle fitting the day no problem. They pulled his tube that day and we were home 3 days later. Took 3 weeks to establish a good breathing relationship and my supply. Now we’re at 11 weeks and solely breastfeeding and i pump an additional 4-6 ounces a day so dad can feed him occasionally too! There’s so much trauma I’m still dealing with just from the nicu not even processing my emergency c section yet.

@Delainey this is why I find groups like this so important! You find people who went through similar things. I am 7 months postpartum and sometimes still have a hard time thinking about that experience.

@Akia we had to go in for his follow up car seat study because he failed the first time. ( they still sent us home) and they hooked him up to the machines again and i just started bawling. I hear the machines in my sleep. I barely sleep still because I’m watching him breathe. Even though thankfully we never had breathing issues. They kept putting him on oxygen when they gave him morphine “ just in case” his lungs got lazy.

Also a full term NICU mama, and my little girl was also diagnosed with HIE. It was such a traumatic experience, it’s good to hear other mamas stories and how you are all processing and helping your littles to thrive 🥰

@Ryann how’s your kiddo now?? After our guy was life flighted they down graded him from mod/severe to mild and they almost weren’t going to cool him. They did though. He thankfully never had seizures and his mri was clear. Our pediatrician said he wouldn’t have even thought our baby had HIE. But i question everything anyway. Is he overly fussy because of reflux or brain injury.. Is he holding his head up enough or is he delayed… I’m expecting it to continue. We’ve had so many people tell us they think HIE is overly diagnosed. And everyone has opinions it’s so overwhelming
