Help plz worried mum

Hi I recently expressed my concerns and worry’s about my 3 year olds development and her being none-verbal e.c.t. To the health care Vistor So they are coming next week for a home visit. Has anyone been through this or recently had the health care Vistor round for home visit due to this reason and is there anyway I can prepare for this visit and anything I need to do ? Feeling nervous would really appricate any advice or comment before this visit happens so I fully prepared for the visit and how long do they usally stay ?

I had one come to evaluate my daughter to see if she qualified for in home therapies and we actually have an autism eval this morning, but I was told why they were coming.. I’ve never had them tell me someone was coming to my home and not say why.

Hi xx we did the same when our son was 2 years old and the health visitor came to our home and we just expressed all of our concerns and our health visitor just watched him play etc… it wasn’t bad at all, she was very understanding, it was quite good to express our concerns and then a couple of weeks after we had appointments with audiology and portage, and then a few months we had appointments with the peadtrician, speech and language. I wouldn’t worry xxx

@Erica okay thankyou 🥰 I can imagen she coming to visit as I have expressed my worries about my LG and I have recently moved house so we are now under new health care Vistor team so she proberly gussed I would know why she was coming and didn’t feel like she needed to tell me 🥰

@Rachael okay Thabkyou your comment was really helpful ! Did you prepare in any way ? The health care Vistor has asked me to write down my worries and concern I have that’s all I know on terms of how to prepare 🥰 did you set any activity’s up for your little one for when she came or did you just leave things as normal if that makes sense ? And they have already refferd her to speech and langue from are phone call witch is great xx

Just because they can not talk does not mean they are not communicating is what I have learned I’ve been throw it they come out they see how ur daughter is doing and make a plan for therpy and such we did this for 2 years but now we are homeschooling cuz school didn’t work out for us there also this other commutation way with an aac and even spell to communicate :) seems ur doing all the right things it seems too me

We just left things as normal. It was really relaxed. We didn’t have any special activities we just had his normal toys out he played with and we just let him play while I was talking with the HV, then now and again the HV would just watch what he was doing and make notes xxxx

@Liz aw thankyou ! I completely agree ! She’s amazing at physically showing us what she wants and I try make as easy for her as possible so keep cups and bows and some snack at her level well kinda off she need little help to grab the snacks xx

@Rachael okay thankyou ! That’s made me feel better I appricate your comment xx

I am a health visitor and it’s helpful of you have examples think of things like diet, sleep, gross motor skills, socialising with other children etc. write things down if it helps. Things he used to do but not doesn’t or things he’s never done. What does he do instead so does he have other ways of communicating. They will know what to look for so don’t worry if you forget things either

@Louise okay that’s really helpful thankyou ! And can a health care Vistor reffer my daughter for an autism and ADHD assignment ? Thankyou I hope you don’t mind me asking I appreciate the advice 🥰 and do you think it would be good for me to set some activity’s up for when health care Vistor comes or just keep as normal ?

Just keep as normal maybe have some toys out so that your child doesn’t feel like they are under pressure but have them playing if you can. The health visitor can refer for further assessments so to speech therapy, paediatricians etc

@Louise okay thankyou very much ! They have been great so far Just from my phone call with them expressing my worries they have refferd my daughter to speech and langue already and home vist next week hopefully goes well I don’t know why but I am nervous 🥰
