Can I claim UC?

Am I able to claim UC as my partner works full time? We own our own home (still paying mortgage - with high rates!) I was working full time before I went on maternity but we are really struggling with money at the moment but I’m not ready to go back to work (also don’t have childcare to be able to go back full time). Or is there anything I can claim to help? I’ve got myself into a lot of debt trying to keep up with bills while on SMP. Any advice would be appreciated ❤️

I believe you can still claim UC even if you’re both working. You could contact your local citizens advice or use the benefits calculator which will give you a good indication of what you are entitled to. https://benefits-calculator.turn2us.org.uk/survey/1/4a969322-d87e-4a08-b075-b21e69469fbb

@Catherine unfortunately this calculator says I’m not entitled to anything except SMP & child benefit 😣 thank you though x

You can always try to claim and receive an answer based on your circumstances I'm in the same shoes, and decided to try and claim, still waiting for an answer

you can claim some money for childcare if youre in education or working look on the gov website x

You can try but if he’s working full time it’s highly unlikely you would get anything as it has to be a joint claim for the household and he probably earns above the threshold

Your partners income would have to be under a certain threshold x
