We are not throwing a party either :( I figured we could buy her whatever we want with the money we would have spent on a party... My husband and I are taking the day off work and just spending it with our LO. We're gonna go take photos at JC Penny, go to Build a Bear (birthday bears are $1), and then we're gonna go eat somewhere with my parents. I'm gonna get her a little Nothing Bundt Cakes cupcakes to smash/eat 😅
I felt same way because I can’t afford a party either and have such a tiny apartment…my goal is to go to the aquarium and maybe out to eat or to a park
My little one got so sick for his birthday! It was a little bit of a bummer. We were just doing a simple family get together at our place but had to cancel. He felt well enough to have some birthday cake and loved us singing happy birthday to him which was special in its own way. 🙂
My baby girl goes to daycare, I just planned to buy her some drinks cake, and snacks to take with her. Everything is around 50$ So just do something simple even with the family and the siblings if any. Every moment counts even the little ones. And not having a big party doesn't make you a bad mother. 🥰
Don’t feel bad! Just from this post I can tell you are an amazing and carrying parent! If you want some pictures for keepsake, I would get a couple of balloons, and a small cake (or even a cupcake) and take pictures of him and some of the family together. If you want to do something different, I would say to pick a special activity for you to do as a family (maybe go to the aquarium, zoo or even just a park). What matters and what will stay with your LO is the feeling of love that he will experience!
We did a small party at home with her grandparents. She has 3 sets. Only a couple of presents and it was more than enough for her. She had a blast.
I felt the same way. I’m not doing much just going to the aquarium and go somewhere to eat
If you wanted to do a party or gathering you could organise one in the park a big picnic and invite friends and family, buy some food and drink and tell everyone to bring something along should be nice
We're not doing anything! She's in nursery for her birthday and I'm working. I don't know if it's second child syndrome or what but she won't even know it's her birthday so not fussed 🤣
My oldest wore me out with parties 😂 All to not remember anything before her 4th birthday. So now I prefer to do what that specific child likes. Today’s my son’s birthday and we are taking him to an indoor play gym and then coming home to pizza, cake and ice cream. I’m still a little extra so I made him a balloon arch and decorated the apartment in a hot wheels theme but other than that we are enjoying our day nice and simple in the A/C!!
@Sofia for build a bear do you have to show proof of birthday?
Thank you everyone I might take him to the aquarium, out to eat, balloons, cake and ice cream!!!
I’m baking a cake from scratch and we got her 4 small presents. It doesn’t have to be expensive to be special ❤️❤️
We didn't have to show proof for our daughters build a bear. I made my son a 3D Winnie the Pooh with one of those 90s wilton pans. I had all the stuff for it so it costed me nothing to make. You could just make him a cake, frost it and write happy birthday on it.

We went ahead and rented a pavilion for a park and we told everyone to bring sides. So, it's as low budget as possible. You could also ask people to meet you at the zoo. The zoo is free.
For my first we struggled lived in an apartment not a lot money and no village to even throw a party. We just took him to the aquarium got him cute outfit and just took him to the park and got him a gift. Sometimes little things mean alot like maybe picnic at the park or library and at the library if u have a member ship or if u have food stamps u qualify to get discounts certain museums. Umm sometimes like play areas also.
I don’t have a little boy but we are doing fairy first birthday! You can do something like my first Rodeo or First trip around the sun you can do something that doesn’t take up much space
