A little bit but nothing really noticeably bad x
Did they actually do any tests or anything else other than hear ‘blood in poo’ and just assume Cmpa and overhaul her whole diet? Just curious as I see a LOT of Cmpa diagnosis and it seems to be becoming a bit of a common thing when surely that can’t be right
@Jess nope, no test, which is why im sceptical. As she’s not shown any other signs. And my nephew (who’s 5 months) took 16 weeks to get him on this formula as he was screaming 12hrs a day. She’s not shown any signs like that.
@Georgia yeah I’d be questioning this too especially if it’s suddenly come on too - I assume she hasn’t been having this since birth as you said ‘straight to doctors’. Seems drastic action by them - surprising seeing as usually it takes 19 appointments for GPs to take you seriously 🙄
To be honest, I’d probably do my own research.you are more likely to be able to see small similarities and factors that link things up to something rather than the quick 10min gp app where they don’t see baby feeding or nappies or how they are in themselves etc
@Jess yeah only happened once, so I wasn’t sure if she was just a bit constipated and it was from straining, or a stomach bug or something. I don’t know how they can just to allergy.
@Georgia wow just once! That’s even more shocking of their reaction. I’d definitely be going back. Changing up a diet like that for a baby is not something that should be taken lightly. It can take weeks for them to settle to a new formula
We had one incident of blood in poo only a tiny amount my boy has a bit of a sluggish digestive system and after a particularly bad case of constipation he ended up tearing a little when finally passing things. Spoke to the health visitor and she had no concerns and it's not happened again. I would definitely get a second opinion if you're concerned that does seem like a hell of a leap for a quick appointment
My little boy does have CMPA - he had quite severe symptoms BUT he also had blood in his nappy from having a really sore bum - could it be that? He had a little cut.
@Emily oh bless him, no I checked and I couldn’t see a cut. Since going on the formula and me cutting out dairy though she is now going to the toilet a lot more than before
I had to take my little boy to a&e cos he had blood and mucus in his poo. They straight away said dairy allergy but I wasn't convinced so I didn't put him on the prescription milk and he's had nothing since then and he's now 3 months old x
I think they’re quite quick to diagnose if there’s any hint of blood in poo. My little girl had some in streaks of blood and mucus in hers a while back, it was a one off I think from straining. Nothing since. Maybe keep an eye on it and see how it goes over the next few weeks? My dr was very keen to prescribe medication for reflux / potential cmpa but it’s got better over time x
@Georgia there isn't really a test for CMPA. It's elimination based sadly. We have been on dairy free milk for months now. He never bad blood but his symptoms were....khaki green poo that was very wet smelt like rotten eggs. Non stop straining for all poo and wind. Sneezes. Hiccups. Reflux. Back arching when feeding. Rashes. Redness. General unhappiness. I know people that have had it diagnosed purely on blood in stool though
@Cheryl we’ve had a whole day now of non stop green poos. And grunting and straining each time. 😔never had that before starting this milk

@Georgia oh no!! It's such a minefield honestly. We've been having issues for months and now we've got to trial dairy again. Absolutely dreading it.
@Cheryl hope you get on ok x
My little one has CMPA and he has a lot of symptoms but didn’t have any blood in his poo, my opinion would be to get another opinion because I’m not sure if that would be an allergy to milk. Also, I would keep breastfeeding and don’t try transition onto the specialist formula as if your cutting out dairy so no need to start formula. Xx
has she been vomiting or been extra fussy? xx
