Question

So I feed my LO bottle during the day and the formula says 6 scoops which I do for her age, but not sure it’s fulling her up enough an I should go up to 7 scoops? Just wondering what’s best she’s almost 4 months old. Also wondering do u start her on the porridge when she’s 4 months as some people say it will help but not sure if it’s safer to wait till 6 months. FTM some advice would be great, thank you

I would give it an hour until you give her another feed, I would advise against giving a baby food at 4 months only because their stomach is not fully developed and can cause issues later on during adulthood. Although some do start. But personal experience in the family it had left some family members long lasting damages because starting off early . If you’re breast feeding you can give them as much as they want but with formula use the guideline. Your baby can be a big baby so it’s good to get advice from your HV to see if it is okay to increase x

Thank you this is great advice

Is she draining the bottle most or all of the time? If so the general rule of thumb is to up by 1 so they always have some left in the bottle x

Is she consistently draining the 6oz bottles? If so then increase by 1oz. Definitely wait until 6 months to introduce anything other than milk.

Increase it by 1oz; this is what we did and it’s been fine - he doesn’t always take the full bottle but definitely needed that extra bit at certain points of the day. Would definitely recommend waiting it out to start solids of any kind, unless told to by a doctor x

Thank you everyone this is so helpful I appreciate this makes me feel a little bit more at ease
