When do you have first appt?

Hi! Hope you’re doing well! First time mum here, I’m very excited but cautious as it’s so early (5 weeks). I completed the online NHS hospital registration last week. Does anyone know when to expect the first appointment? Do they do a blood test to confirm the pregnancy?

I did my online referral 2 weeks ago and im still waiting to hear from the midwives. I'm 5.5weeks so I think I'll probably hear in the next few weeks 🤔 I think usually the first appointment I normally between 8-11 weeks is what I've been told x

Okay, thank you that’s helpful!

Hello! I think I have my first appointment in week 9 and second in week 12 - depends on where you live on timing of them all coming through but they’ll be in touch 🙂

I had a phone call the same day I did my referral. Didn't have an appointment until around 9 weeks. They will take bloods but not to confirm pregnancy.

8-11 weeks just to do some forms, then first scan at 12 weeks ish

Yes this is all true. But it think it's such a long time to be sat waiting. We have opted for a private scan at 7 weeks. As you can hear the baby's heartbeat and assure normal development. Which means miscarriage risk is reduced significantly. Also you can determine twins if they run in your family. Private scans range between £45-£150. We paid £75 for an ultrasound and have it on 20th.

So helpful, thanks everyone

My first appointment is 9-10 weeks. They do some bloods and ask questions about my medical history, partners history etc. It’s usually about 45 mins x

I self referred 2 weeks ago and I don't expect to hear anything until I am 9/10 weeks along (currently 6)
