Darent Valley diabetes team

Does anyone have recent good experiences with the diabetes team at Darent ? I’ve got gestational diabetes and have done for the last 10 weeks & they’ve been absolutely shocking. I’m on the verge of changing trusts back to QE even though my first labour with them was dreadful 🫠

I was originally with Darrent valley and ended up changing because they were shocking. I didn't trust having a baby there at all. If your not comfortable I'd change x

Darent valley misdiagnosed me with diabetes and gave me insulin could of killed me apparently my notes got mixed up with a type 1 diabetic with the same first name and my baby and landed me in princess royal hospital for a week on a glucose drip and I was worrying my baby was going to come out brain dead for the last 3 months of my pregnancy when I tried to sue them for it they had no record of it so they had deposed of the records 😞

I moved from darent valley to pruh was the best thing I could have done as I don’t rate qe either

@Sam they misdiagnosed me with having to have the injections for anti d as they read my blood type wrong 🙈 that's when I decided to change to pruh x

@Georgina they’re driving me mad ! I have a midwife appointment tomorrow & I’m going to speak to them about it, even though one of the reasons I’m not happy is because I’ve had a different midwife for every appointment. With QE the diabetes team were great & I had the same midwife all the way through

Yeah they were the same with me never saw the same person everytime no one knew what they were doing it was a complete mess. If you wasn't happy with qe either can you not try pruh? I didbt even talk to them about moving I just completed an online from for pruh they contacted me straight away and did the switch then I just contacted the midwife at Darrent valley said I have switched x

@Sam that’s insane! I’m so sorry! They keep telling me when I complain that they have to many patients & they can’t cope with it. But it’s not like they’re an understaffed shop, they’re messing with peoples health & their babies !!

@Sam PRU is 40 mins from me that’s the only problem

@Georgina it’s a 40 min drive for me, which is the only problem & I doubt they will cover my area? Im in Erith. I’m hoping for a home birth so I know for sure their home birth team won’t cover my address

I’m booked with Darent and this is my second baby there but have never had an issue? What have been your issues?

@Sarah do you have GD too? Most of my issues are with the diabetes team but also not having 1 midwife for my appointments. Which is important for me in my circumstances. I don’t want to have to explain multiple things at every midwife appointment and be subjected to different opinions & advice. I’d prefer to have the consistency of the same midwife. I used QE for my first and the care is worse with Darent

Yeah I have GD. I’ve never seen the same midwife either, but it was the same with my first so just presumed it was normal. I’ve never had to explain myself, as everything is in my notes, and I haven’t experienced differing opinions but mainly cos I don’t get anything out of the appts. I’m 30 weeks and only had 3, and 1 was my booking 😂

I'm in barnhurst and it covers the area. You can just fill the online form in, all your midwife appointments will be at st Mary Cray in Sidcup and your scans at Denmark hill and you will give birth in pruh! X

@Sarah I spoke to a midwife today she said under darent you are meant to have the same midwife, mines just been sick so I’ve had everyone covering. Same I’m 28 weeks and had 3 appointments, they’ve booked me in for an extra one at 31 weeks because the diabetes team aren’t doing their part

@Georgina hmm, Denmark hill for scans is a bit mental. I’ll have to have a look into it. Don’t want any extra aggravation if I can avoid it. My midwife today said I should report the diabetic team to pals, but I doubt anything will change in the next 12 weeks

Defo look into it. It's just one straight train from barnhurst very easy and it's not in Denmark hill hospital it's right next to the station. But defo do what you feel comfortable with! I hope you get it sorted! :) x

Oh interesting. I’ve been having to travel all over for appts too. Midwife in erith, darent to collect prescriptions and queen Mary for scans. I haven’t had any dealings with the diabetes team, other than an email to tell me I have it and to collect the kit, and a response to my first diary submission.

You can ask to only see one midwife I only had 1 midwife my whole pregnancy she only didn't attend 1 appointment due to her being off sick

@Georgina yeah I will. Just with work & my daughter I just about fit everything in & that’s all local🤦🏼‍♀️ thank you

@Hannah you are meant to have only one, I’ve just been unlucky that mines been off sick & they are only just giving me a new one, they’ve given me an extra appointment at 31 weeks and that should be my new midwife

Hopefully you get it sorted I had a brilliant experience with darent Valley nearly 7 months ago I was high risk and they was brilliant from start to finish
