Pro and anti vax common ground?

Parent of the child who died of measles STILL thinks their DEAD child is better off without the MMR vaccination. I thought perhaps a common ground between those that vaccinate and those that choose not to was the livelihood of their children, but if we can’t see eye to eye on that, how do we find a common ground to discuss the issue of vaccination? For folks that don’t vaccinate, are you comfortable with your child dying of a preventable disease?

This angers me. The parents should be arrested for neglect.

What a vile thing for a mother to say!! So so selfish

Unfortunately, I think the death of a child is unlikely to change someone's mind. It's hard for someone to cope with such a tragedy. It's even harder if there's something that they could have done to prevent their loss. Very few people will acknowledge that they could have done something differently and instead will rationalize it with thoughts like "they're in a better place/it was their time." I think religious people (like this Mennonite family) lean into those beliefs more in general.

They don’t believe their child will die from these things. Is the root of it. They find all these “reasons” within the antivax community that tells them that their child won’t die and that vaccines are more dangerous then these diseases

I'm holding back tears at work looking at this picture. Please please please don't let your children go through something that could be prevented

Another one died on Thursday 😞

@SquishyMommy1 yes I see that fear everywhere!! Now that multiple children have literally died from a disease that could have been prevented with a vaccine they are still like, eh it was still worth it not to vaccinate. But their child literally died??? But I agree with the other poster about the religious community accepting death as part of gods plan and everything (but someone creating a vaccine wasn’t?) this is all heartbreaking and ultimately we need herd immunity to protect the vulnerable and I’m just trying to understand how people can continue to insist to not vaccinate and what would make them change their mind if death doesn’t

Honestly antivaxers are probably gonna say something like “it was vaccine shedding” or “it was a different illness not measles, theyre covering it up” :/

@Victoria~ they already have

This is so sad. Personally the only issue I have with vaccines are the amount given at once.

@Sarah 🎀 why does that concern you?
