Food help!!

I have introduced my baby to cow and gate porridge as part of her starting to eat food instead of her 210ml 11am feed. However the last few days she is showing signs of constipation and I just can’t get her to drink water throughout the day. I’m looking for some advice on how to get babies to drink fluid and what and how much they should be eating? She is now really sore around her bum I believe from straining.

Maybe try a food high in fibre puréed if you’re just starting or blend some oats into finer granules and offer porridge that way. Baby porridge is just a way to get you to spend more money! If she’s still constipated try some reflexology or a small amount of warm boiled water through her bottle.

Porridge gave my boy constipation, I just started giving veg puree instead and that helped. Also didn’t drop a feed just fed the puree on top of all his regular bottles but would feed him first before milk so that he’s more inclined to try it xx

My little one has constipation - try apples, pears, prunes, yoghurt, spinach, orange. Avoid broccoli and bananas. I give diluted prune juice (1 part juice to 10 parts water) and fresh orange juice (GP recommended). I give water before milk (he is very constipated at the moment!). Babies stomachs are not that big so only started with a few spoons as day and slowly increased. When baby is full he lets me know by turning his head. I have not dropped any feeds yet and am trying to get him to drink water whenever I can.
