RSV vaccination

It was mentioned by my midwife at my last appointment this is baby no.4 for me my youngest being 7 and eldest 19, and I don’t remember having this with any of my children. I’m not anti vax it’s just it’s very new to me, what are your thoughts?

It's a new vaccine rolled out this year I believe, it's obviously passed all it's safety trials etc but my sister didn't have it with either of hers and my youngest niece isn't quite 1. I will be getting it but understand why some wouldn't

That was my concern was reading up on it, it’s a very new one and side effects not known so I am up in the air about it! X

@Victoria I got given a leaflet with loads of info on it, side effects, etc etc. I did a lot of my own research and decided to get it but my sisters youngest was in hospital with RSV so I don't wanna take the risk x

I can see why people would be unsure being new but for me the potential side effects vs knowing how bad RSV could be helped make that decision

(This info is what I’ve gathered through friends who work in medicine in the USA) It’s been rolled out there for years for pregnant women and don’t seem to have any issues. Again, they also said it’s been available privately in the uk for a few years too, which seems to be correct from 2023. And now finally being offered free on the NHS. My first boy had RSV at 6 months old and it has left him with some issues, everyone needs to make their educated choices for themselves but I’ll definitely be having it this time around! :) So I believe it’s not “new”, just new to the NHS.

Thank you! I appreciate peoples opinions ☺️

@Victoria hey so it’s not a new vaccine at all, it’s just cause it’s only just had the funding to be offered to pregnant women. It’s actually been around for many years and commonly used in USA. It’s defo a big thing to decide on though when you’re not sure of something! I’ve been debating it as well even though I know it’s not new 😅
