CMPA

I think my baby has CMPA, or at least she has most of the symptoms of it. She is 4 1/2 weeks old and recently has become so restless and visibly in pain, I feel like I’m failing her as I can’t do anything to help. - Struggling to Poo (Constipated) - Arching Back - Spots / Rashes on Face & Body - Can’t sleep lying down, needs to be upright or on someone - Vomitting straight after feeding I have called a doctor for an appointment for her, to hopefully get some help but did anyone do anything in the meantime to help? I’ve seen a lot of people changing their diets etc. Any advice is welcome x

Are you breastfeeding? My 1st has cmpa and it took a few months before gp would prescribe hydrolysed milk. He had really bad reflux and was prescribed omeprazole which helped the reflux but ofcourse didnt fix the cmpa. Once on the new milk we noticed a difference within days!

Sounds exactly like my baby he’s 3 1/2 weeks same symptoms was vomiting yellow and they passed it off as silent reflux but he’s so uncomfortable when I feed him been trying to breastfeed but struggling with latch it’s so painful tried to get in the GP and no appointments 😩 awful seeing them in pain isn’t it 😢

My first has CMPA took us till he was 8 weeks to get tht doctors to prescribe formula for him. This time my little girl has been on it since about 2 weeks old. It also sounds like your little one could have reflux too

Mine is like this e just got milk prescribed yday its so hard

I was recently in hospital with an infection in my C-section. So I was fortunate enough for peads to come and visit my girl. They said due to the strong family history of cow milk intolerance they were able to diagnose her as CMPA. All the symptoms you described above were exactly what my girl had and as a form of treatment peads prescribed her Aptamil pepti 1. I plan to go back to breastfeeding but if and when I do I will need to first go on a lactose free diet and if her symptoms come back then to completely cut out dairy. Personally I will just cut the dairy out from the get go when I go back to breast feeding. I think if there's a strong genetic background peads take things more seriously. So the main reason they diagnosed her was because when I was 2 years old I had anaphylactic shock to cows milk. The reason this presented so late is because babies don't have the ability to go into anaphylactic shock it is something that develops when they are older. Hope this info helps.
