Looks like a lip tie, unless it affects feeding, they won't do anything. Also, when the front teeth cut, it'll possibly break the tie. X
@kayleigh yeah I agree. I can't even open her mouth that much to take a photo like that.... we're 5 weeks
@Deb oooh interesting. Thank you. She clicks a lot whilst feeding and has a lump on her top lip from bottles. She also drinks so slow and can't go up from a size 0 teat yet either
They’ll only do something about it if it’s affecting their feeding / weight gain. They’ll eventually fall when older & it’ll split. My almost 2 year old is top lip tied, she clicked when drinking on mam bottles I switched her to nuk & the clicking stopped. She has a little gap in her teeth but it never effected her - photos above defo look like lip tie
@Lauren which nuk bottles did you use? We have tried different bottles and teats but his latch isn’t great I don’t think, he doesn’t click but dribbles milk a lot. Thanks ☺️
@Lauren oh thank you for this. Hopefully it'll sort itself out then when her teeth come through. Interesting about mam bottles! I'll have a look into it. We have got a tommee tippee one i could try. I'm not sure the clicking is meaning anything in particular as she's still drinking ok although slowly and can't go up a teat size yet
My first clicked on bottles until she was 4 months old (tommee tippee), and she wouldn't except mam bottles. Second, who doesn't have a lip tie doesn't click at all and prefers mam bottles over tommee tippee. I couldn't breastfeed my first due to lip tie. Second, i probably could, but I regret not due to the struggles I had with first. X
I will just say I was told 90% with a lip tie ALSO have some variation of tongue tie so it could be worth getting the health visitor to check - usually there are feeding clinics that can assess for it. Clicking can be a sign of tongue tie. My little one ( also 5 weeks and only just discovered her lip and tongue tie last week( clicks sometimes and falls asleep feeding. But we are EBF and I believe they’ll only snip it if breastfeeding exclusively or over 60% of the time. 🙃
I’ve just realised my 1 month old is like this… I have googled and looks like a lip tie, but also looks like in the uk they don’t tend to do much about it unless baby is loosing weight or having serious feeding issues?
