They are sooo inaccurate my first weighed over 3lbs lighter then what they estimated he was going to be! He was a long/tall baby though just not as chunky as they expected him to be! I had to buy newborn clothes as everything swamped him 🫣
I had the same experience. At 28 weeks the midwife told me my bump was small when I had a scan two days before saying the baby is on target. Was referred to a consultant to do my scan at 30 weeks and she confirmed my baby is growing fine he was weighing around 3lb 6 oz and on the 37.1 percentile. Had another growth scan due to him not wanting to show his face for the 4D scan and he put on 2 oz at 31 weeks. So, I think we should take these scans with a pinch of salt and if there’s no obvious concerns then we shouldn’t worry. But it’s hard not to at times I remember sobbing my eyes out when the midwife said my bump was small thinking my body failed my son.
Completely agree! I think it's stupid that they can refer you for your bump not being the "right" size. Everyone carries different and it causes unnecessary worry! I have low PAPP-A so am having growth scans to monitor my placenta function/growth. My first baby was small because of low PAPP-A so it's just a precaution this time but it still makes me so anxious. I just try to remind myself that they aren't that accurate.
Honestly they’re so inaccurate 🙄 At my pregnancy yoga class everyone has been moaning about this and a lot of them have decided to say no thanks to loads more monitoring and scanning. The amount they measure… they’re always going to find ‘something’ to panic you about, when in actual fact most of the time there is nothing to panic about. Women have been having babies for millions of years and coped just fine without all the measuring, your body will grow a baby that fits your body 🙌🏻
