Carbon monoxide test

Has anyone else failed/got a high reading on this, despite being a non smoker and knowing no smokers?? Confused and a bit worried

I blew a 5 yesterday and never smoked in my life… they got a new machine and I blew a 1. The original machine was dodgy x

Have you had your gas appliances checked at home? Common causes of high CO in non smokers can be: Faulty home gas appliances (or work places) Driving with the windows open Air con that’s not functioning properly in the car Being around smokers

Another thing which is wild that will increase your score is if you’ve done any painting recently x

I had a high first reading and was advised to get boiler serviced in case which we did. Haven’t actually been offered another CO test since to know the effect but worth doing if you haven’t check appliances at home

Everything as mentioned above! Also any kind of lung condition, such as asthma, can affect co2 readings. If you have a known lung condition it may be worth booking an appointment with gp for a checkup. My readings alway sit at 3-5 as I had a collapsed lung and major lung surgery last June which reduced lung function.

I failed on more than one occasion. We have carbon monoxide tests at home so we knew it wasn’t an issue at home. I used to walk along a very busy, long road to go to my appointment and when I had a test at a different location it was fine.

I had a high first reading. Was 11 😭😭 potentially mine was skewed as I had cheese and I’m lactose intolerant. Apparently that can cause false positives!

Even walking and having a dodgy car driving past can increase your score, as long as your appliances are okay at home/ you have a alarm on the go just keep going could always just be a off reading x

With my first pregnancy i got a 9!! Didnt smoke but i had been on a bus and walked along a main road and she said thats most likely why! X
