I LOVE being under a consultant! I was referred cause I have some joint issues & my BMI is .1 above the “norm” LOL!! Anyway a mines an absolute diamond, she’s got me referred to so much stuff and has sorted loads out for me!! Nothing to be nervous about bab they’re there to help you!! Xx
I am consultant led because I am having twins! However a friend has a blood condition that meant his wife was consultant led and he said the extra level of care they received was amazing and he wouldn't have wanted anything else!
I've been consultant/midwife from the start, dur to a multitude of issues/previous loses, etc I've found it very reassuring, having that extra level of care and support. She is able to answer more indepth questions i have about csections etc I have found i have been monitored with addional scans checkup a lot more than if i have been solely midwife Your first appointment is usually just so you can be introduced, you will do a pee sample and sometimes a blood sanple Then they will discuss why you are being seen by consultant aswell :) You will have time to ask any questions etc
I'm consultant led because of complications I had after my last birth and it's been fairly simple so far! I had a first meeting with him and we discussed what I wanted to do for the birth this time. We basically both agreed a c section would be best so I don't need to see him now again until about 32 weeks. He was really nice though and answered all my questions so felt reassuring!
I had one at 12 weeks as I suffer with an auto immune disease with my stomach. Just extra care! I have extra scans and checks and also have to take medication x
Thank you all so much for sharing your experiences. It’s really put my mind at ease! I know I’m there because I had a procedure for cancerous cells in November and my BMI but I’m just feeling lost as this is my rainbow baby❤️
Completely normal to feel that way!!! This is my rainbow too 🩷
Hi! I’m 18 weeks today and Consultant Lead Care due to my BMI and thyroid condition. Totally understand the nerves I was the same but you will be absolutely fine. I went in and did the pee pot, had my checks with the nurse like my BP, they took some bloods and then I saw the consultant. He went over a lot of what we spoke about in my first midwife appointment, fair few questions and some other tests before putting me on some aspirin and doing a letter to my doctor to get it on repeat. I hope your experience is similar so you’ve got some rough idea what is going to happen. It’s scary but we’re smashing it growing little humans, there’s nothing we can’t do! X
