Stressed

Honestly I’m sitting in the bath crying my eyes out as I write this.. the last two days my dog has come down with diarrhoea and vomiting. I’ve been up since 3am (it’s now 9pm) as he was literally spraying my walls for me all while I’ve got a 6 month old. I am so stressed out as to why his all of sudden started this, I’m worried it’s the change of routine as we’ve had a lot of work happening in the house recently that’s resulted him being segregated more than usual.. or whether his picked something up while being out on a walk as we’ve been out more often recently as the weathers been nicer. I honestly just don’t know how to handle this, me the dog and the baby are all cramped into a room at my mums because I have no where else, I also crate him of a night because of the baby and he was well receptive of this prior to baby being here and soon after.. so I don’t know if his anxiety could be the cause or not.. because why so sudden? I’m heart broken cos I feel so bad.. but I just don’t know what to do.

Show your support

O hun this is so tough. It’s completed understandable to be so stressed about this. Do you have any support who can look after the dog and deal with that? I also have a dog and it all can be hard work.

Chances are he's eaten something he shouldn't have. https://amzn.eu/d/0dsVpFH try this probiotic paste. If it doesn't improve soon, it's best to go see a vet xx

Aww don’t feel bad I reckon he has probably picked up something, illd mention to the vet! We also have a dog and I know how tough it can be! I’ve always said he is more hard work compared to my children lol! Oh I also recommend that probiotic paste we give that to our dog when he’s got sensitive tum! You got this and try not to stress if it still continues tonight call vet tomo morning try and let him outside much as you can before you go to bed and hopefully he’s okay in the crate tonight x

This can be quite common in dogs and is usually down to something they’ve eaten, don’t let it upset you. Try and watch what he’s eating. Our dog usually gets sick after too much human food. Chicken and rice is a good way of settling their stomach

Take your dog to the vet

You need to get your dog to the vet! Anxiety and change of routine absolutely would not cause sickness and vomiting. Call the vet ASAP. Has the dog been able to keep anything down today? Have they had water? D&V can turn dangerous quickly due to dehydration.

There is a lot of gastroenteritis going around dogs at the moment. It could be that is what your dog has. Something like prokolin or yudigest plus (the powder not tablets!) will help tummy recover.

Take him to a vet please. Even if it’s anxiety they can prescribe something to stop the diarrhea and vomiting and maybe some anxiety meds once that has calmed down. You don’t want to do nothing as your dog can become very dehydrated from loosing so much water.

Okay, I should have said, I was at the emergency vets with him at 6am in the morning to which they actually wanted to leave him to “see how it goes” and I asked for antibiotics as he was treated several years back with the same thing. I did ask the vet if change of routine could cause this and they said yes.. which made me feel worse knowing I could have been the reason why. No one else can help look after him at the moment it’s all so hard between the baby and him.. and giving him up just isn’t an option .. sigh..
