Most people are rightfully taught to not bad mouth their significant others family especially parents. He's maybe just trying to keep the peace since it is your mom. So probably not as black and white as just taking sides.
@Vee lol no, he badmouths my fam all the time saying my dad can get fucked amongst other stuff but he always takes my moms side on stuff I complain to him about that she does. It’s so annoying

It may take a while. It was extremely hard for my to leave stayed WAY TOO long. I did the stay until you hate him method it works but it does come at the cost of your time and energy and more trauma unfortunately if you don’t disconnect asap

Oh lord, I hear ya. I have an ex who used to do that except with my brother. My brother and I are very close in age and so lots of sibling rivalry and general disagreements. My brother would drive me nuts, I'd be fuming and when I talked to my ex he'd just defend whatever my brother said/did. I actually told my ex once, "You know, sticking up for him against me isn't gonna make him f*ck you." Made me so angry. Anyways, he's clearly an ex for a reason! 😂

My ex used to do this along with a lot of other stuff that didn’t sit rights I tell you what my life got so much better when I dropped him like a bag of bricks
