Chicken pox

Hi all. My toddler has been with my niece all week whilst I’ve been working and my niece has come up today in chicken pox. I’m not so worried about my toddler getting it as she hasn’t had it before and I’d rather get it out the way however I’m obviously almost 19 weeks pregnant so now I’m worrying if she does get it and I am around her. I have had it before as a child so I think I would be ok? But just wanted to check! Have asked my midwife but no response yet x

If you’ve had it you should be ok, maybe phone drs just to be safe x

I had this in my first pregnancy- if you’ve had chickenpox when you were younger then you are completely fine!

I’m in the same position, my boys have been around my niece in law who’s now got chickenpox. I’ve read that as long as you have already had chickenpox than there’s nothing to be worried about x

I’ve literally just had this exact situation- chicken pox swept my daughters nursery and she got it. I had it when I was younger but I got really worried anyway. My midwife said I’d be absolutely fine, but my doctor said if I was still worried ask if they could check my blood for antibodies. They ran tests from my intake bloods and found I had the antibodies and that I would be fine. You can ask your midwife if she can run the same tests for you potentially if you’re still worried, but general advice is if you’ve already had it you will be fine xx
