Baby stuff

I have no idea what I will need, obviously a pram but that is the most obvious thing to me! Anything else I should get for baby? What pram is best?

I currently have a nuna I think it’s too overpriced I wish I got the stokke yoyo3 turns into a carry cot and stroller I wish I got it

I’d say don’t buy things like bottle warmer, formula maker or pump until you know whether you are breastfeeding, pumping or using formula. Things like that can be bought on prime next day delivery as and when you realise you need them so don’t waste your money. For example I bought breastmilk storage bags and never used them because I wasn’t able to breastfeed! If you do buy them, go for small quantities. Same with breast pads. You will need a decent steriliser or some sterilisation tablets for baby items (bottles, later for dummies, breast pump parts etc.) Buying a couple of bottles may be a good idea, whether you pump or formula feed. Don’t buy too many as you will figure out later on what you need. I think I had 3 to start with, tiny ones. Don’t worry about fancy outfits for a newborn, get loads of vests, body suits and sleep suits though as little one will live in those - they are easy! Couple of blankets, couple of towels, a baby bath, nappies of the smallest size, cotton pads

I will continue previous comment as ran out of space 🤣 You’ll need a changing mat, somewhere for the baby to sleep (I have a next to me cot and also a bassinet downstairs), mattresses, sheets, also waterproof sheets, muslin squares - honestly everything else you will figure out later based on feeding preference etc. Something to do tummy time on would be good as well like a play mat or a roll. Get yourself some decent maternity pads, maternity pants and bras as well!

I also forgot to mention that baby products like baby oils and baby washes and shampoos you will not need for the first few weeks! I used to give my baby a wipe down every day but not a full bath until his cord fell off. After that I just bathed him in water as it’s better for their skin. I started using products about a month in so don’t worry about spending money just yet. Bath thermometer and room thermometer as well as a body thermometer though are a must! Saline solution was a life saver as I had a congested baby from DAY 1 🤣 so that’s a good thing to have. Basically as long as you have things for your baby to: sleep, be washed and changed, be fed and clothed - that’s all you need for the first couple of weeks. Don’t buy any crazy gadgets until you find a need as baby stuff is so expensive! A few weeks in I bought a bouncer and a mobile and that was useful but not for the beginning. Sensory toys (black and white ones) also will be handy later on

Sorry I keep remembering things I’m finding useful to have - a baby carrier (if you’re planning to baby wear) but again, I didn’t use this until now and my son is 8 weeks old!

As for prams, we didn’t spend a fortune to be fair. We bought a didofy stargazer travel system (it has a bassinet, a car seat, the pram and a couple of accessories), it was maybe about £700? It’s doing its job, it’s nothing fancy though so it just depends on what you need and what your budget is

Download a couple of the baby apps such as Emma’s diary, they all have lists on there of the basics you will need and you can tick them off as you get them. Pram wise we have and would recommend the oyster 3.

Furniture/larger items • Baby bath • Baby bouncer/baby swing • Play mat • Clothing rail/wardrobe/drawers • Isofix base • Car seat • Steriliser • Next-to-me/cot • Pram and carry cot • Mattress Toiletries • Nipple cream • Nipple shields • Nappy rash cream • Dummies • Thermometer • Cotton wool pleats • Water Wipes • Baby bath • Baby moisturiser • Nappy bags • Soft sponges • Water thermometer • Peri bottle • Baby nail file • Breast pads • Nappies Other • Swaddles • Cellular and warmer blanket • Muslins • Towels • Baby carrier (optional) • Waterproof mattress protectors • Washcloths • Breast pump/baby bottles/formula • Room thermometer • Baby car mirror • Nappy bag • Car sun shades • Changing mat • Baby clothes dependant on season

Changing bag Changing mat Cot (next to me) Moses basket (we used it downstairs) Wipes Nappies - Don’t buy too many of one size until baby is born so you don’t spend money on nappies that may be too small. Nappy bags Blankets Mitts Baby towel Baby bath/seat Muslins (plenty of them!!!) Bibs Car seat Bottles (if formula feeding) Ready made bottles for hospital (if formula feeding) Sterlisier - we have mam bottles so we just use the cold water sterilisers now. We did put them in microwave at first. Clothes - Don’t overbuy in one size. They grow out of them SO quick. Sensory toys for a little bit older - Black and white ones. We used these from about 6 weeks I think it was. Draws/wardrobe for clothes Baby moisturiser Soft sponges Baby nail clippers / electric nail file I would definitely recommend waterproof sheets for cot in case of sick/nappy leaks

Other than all the other stuff people have mentioned, honestly if you’re into it, a baby carrier/wrap saved me and my sanity 😅

What prams does everyone have please
