Reduced Milk Intake

My baby has been drinking much less over the last three weeks. He is offered 5 6oz bottles and is only really having 3 or 4oz at a push! I’ve spoken to the HV and GP, neither are concerned as he’s having plenty of wet nappies but his weight gain is slow. He went off the milk before we started weaning so I know it’s got nothing to do with that. I’m wondering if I can introduce another meal as at the moment he’s still just having one “meal” (following How to Wean you Baby” and only on day 11) a day. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions!?

I was just about to write the same thing on here!! My son is drinking soooo much less in the day, he’s just refusing his bottles and only having small amounts here and there! But then waking up hungry in the night 😭 I was wondering whether to speak to the gp next week about it! I decided today to give him 2 ‘meals’ porridge in AM and puree in PM x

Yes exactly the same! I’m happy to give him night feeds if he needs them but looking at the amount he’s taking then, he definitely wouldn’t if he just had his bottles during the day! I think I’m going to do the same and start giving porridge!x

Same here Iv even given porridge twice in a day made with milk to get some more in struggling to get 700ml in her some days. Tried upping teat size a few times but just splutters then refuses the whole bottle even when I change it back. Tried going to 5 bottles, longer gaps but nothing works I’m getting myself stressed with it all

I am also going through this! So have no advice or suggestions. I did think that teething could be a behind it. But I don’t know xx

@Lana me too and I’m finding when I give him the bottle I’m getting frustrated which then makes me feel guilty! We upped the test sizes and he got used to it but is still not drinking any more!

@Kirsty I thought maybe teething as well but it’s been going on so long and still no sign of teeth so I’m not sure! I am a FTM though so probably clueless 😅xx
