@Kylie So I've tried with spoon (epic fail) and syringe (bit better but takes a long time to get 15ml into such a young baby. Are you doing it mid feed? I think I'll try a bottle next time just wanted to avoid all the sterilising.
Yeah we tried a syringe and it didn't go well, I think because they have to suckle on the bottle it helps them get it down and swallow more naturally to them rather than it just being in their mouth of that makes sense? Yeah the sterilising is a bit of a pain but I'd take it over wrestling him to take it 🙂 worth a try 😊
Yes we are doing it mid feed
We gave it via a bottle teat but it made our LO very constipated, so on days where she is particularly bad we will give Gaviscon 2-3x spaced out throughout the day. Check to see how your LO copes (they may be absolutely fine), but you might not end up giving at 6 feeds a day anyway, so will save sterilising there! X
@Emily have you found gaviscon helps? @Emily @Kylie thank you both. The bottle was not a huge success, she was happily feeding but when I went to replace it with the bottle she firmly held her mouth shut, she has had expressed milk in a bottle a few times and been fine so not sure but she was also very sleepy so will try again next feed
@Laura have you also got someone else to give the bottle? This helped early days when we were introducing it and now she's not bothered at all. I found the Gaviscon help but it wasn't worth the constipation - which is a shame, but you almost have to pick your poison
I’ve expressed a bottle a day and she’s had hers in that
We've just been given it for our 6 week old son and we breastfeed. How are you offering it to her? We've found if we put it in a bottle and get it in his mouth quick enough he doesn't get too upset and will take it
