Straining and crying

My newborn who is 16 days old has been straining his back when I burp him and really upset, crying. I can see he is trying to squeeze poo’s out/ farting but when I change him it’s a small amount. Not too big. It’s affecting his and our sleep as I don’t know what to do. I tried massages. I tried everything but it feels like a lost battle 🥲 being a first time mum I feel like it’s my fault somehow! I feel so guilty

Is he breastfed or formula?xx

I feel you! Try infacol. Will help with gas. And baby massage three times a day. Kelsey Visitoe say about Use a little oil, rub belly in clockwise direction, hold knees up to chest 6 seconds hold and back down and repeat. Sending lots of love xxx

@Lauren mostly formula and something breastmilk through bottle xx

Oh bless you, I was just asking as constipation is more common with formula feeding and solutions are different for both… you can call your midwifery advice line before trying any medicines but we were advised infacol like the message above said… I’m a first time mum too and our girl is 21 days old and breastfed and she does the same thing and we were told it’s just due to her immature digestive system learning what to do. We just do tummy massage and bicycle legs then push her legs up into a deep squat almost (lots of videos online for that) and she will almost always pass gas at least. It’s horrible isn’t it when you can see how tensed up they are and you just want to help… it’s not your fault though. His little body is just figuring out what to do!
