Bath time chaos

I went through this with my little boy, he will eventually sit down again and get back to sitting down, my little one now sits down again, after refusing to and now we enjoy bath times again x

I think if you're giving them a big reaction when they stand, even if unintentionally - in their heads, reaction = we're playing a game. When my little one does this we just redirect her attention elsewhere. Bath toys have really helped with this. You can create a bucket of bath toys to lean on when it starts getting stressful. If our little girl stands we just say "no, bath is for sitting. Why don't you play with a toy instead. Which one would you like next?" The redirection usually works

@Annem agree with this, this is what we do. And if you don't already have one I find a bath mat is a must, so when they do stand up it's a lot less slippy. My boy likes to hold onto the handles either side and launch himself backwards 🙃 it's all learning and we need some risk taking - that's what I try to tell myself anyway 😆

Same situation with my son, he will stand and walk for a short time and then sit down again, I tend just ensure I have a hold of him in case he falls, he’s managed to learn how to safely get up and down himself. Bath toys and our baby non slip bath mat help allot and he eventually sits back down to play. Hopefully it’s just a phase! x

Yes none slip bath mat has been a game changer. We have one from amazing with different colours and she spends most of the bath trying to say purple 🤣

As above, get a bath mat! Mine is going through the same phase and my first did it too. We try distraction with bath toys but it normally only works for a second before she stands up again! It's the novelty of being able to walk and stand, which will fade eventually. I remember asking the same question with my first, and couldn't believe how much the bath mat helped. For now, it's a stand up wash, which on the plus side, does make it easier to put the body wash on their bum and legs!!

Do you have a bath mat? My girl stands in the bath too but she doesn’t slip over on the mat, and obviously we are assisting when needed.
