Ickle Bubba, safe?

So I bit the bullet thinking Ickle bubba being a well known brand would be a good choice for when little one arrives. Spent £600 on a travel system, all the bells and whistles … great I thought, until it came to putting it in the car, seatbelt doesn’t go round the car seat.. ok, try a different car, same problem. Began to google, wondering if this was a common problem only to be flooded with comments of the car seats not being safe. Chin to chest; moving while going round corners, etc. Does anyone have experience with the car seats and/or Altima travel system. I’m going out of my mind thinking I’m going to have to buy another car seat or full travel system as I bought this back in February and stupidly didn’t check it in the return period. I’ve emailed Ickle Bubba with the comments regarding sizing as online it states it will fit in all cars with standard seat belts.. Here’s hoping … 🤞🏼

Hi!! Unfortunately a lot of the car seats you get with travel systems aren’t as safe as others. They’ve passed testing to be sold so will be safe to a degree. There are car seat safety pages you can join on Facebook that give really good recommendations on car seats for infants and beyond! I think one is called Car Seat Safety UK. You can usually get adaptors for the car seat to fit into your travel system if it isn’t the car seat from your travel system. I swapped out the car seat from ours for a different one. If it doesn’t fit your car then it’s a non starter really and you’ll likely have to buy another 😬

My first car seat was from a travel system and it would move SO MUCH one time it nearly fell over when going around a corner even though it was installed properly. I now have a joie car seat and my son sits properly, it’s easy to install and doesn’t move at all. Quite a squeeze to put in some cars because the seatbelts aren’t big enough but it can be done

Yeah I'd second everything Holly said! We have an oyster travel system but sold the car seat brand new from it and replaced it with the Joie I-Gemm 3 as the car seat just wasn't up to standard xx

Was it easy enough to find adapters for another car seat to work on the travel system you have please? I’ve been looking and can’t seem to find anything, maybe not looking for the right thing!! X

I ordered everything from a shop so they just advised which ones I needed. You could try visiting a baby shop that stocks ickle bubba see if they can help ☺️

Do you have the option of using an isofix base? Might cost you but could be useful

Luckily I’ve managed to return the entire travel system after a lengthy battle with Ickle bubba. It’s not worth the risks and following the reviews that have been posted online it’s not something I want to use for my little one! Thank you all, going to go in to a shop after BH and get sorted xx
