Nursery!

When are your babies going to nursery? My girl is 4 months old and I return to work in August: I’m only going back to work for 3 days a week and luckily I work with my partner so those 3 days we work opposite so we don’t NEED childcare help. This being said.. I’m thinking of the benefits of nursery and how it can help her socially. But then I’m thinking of the financial side of things? I’m torn. I want her to be with me as much as possible as this time is sooo precious but also don’t want her to be so dependent on my presence if you get me? When she eventually does go into mainstream school I don’t want her to be so overwhelmed. Opinions pls :)

Personally, if I’d had the option of not sending my eldest to nursery and splitting it between my partner and I definitely wouldn’t have sent him. I kind of wish I’d kept him home until he was 3 but that is just my own experience! The nursery bugs were so brutal for at least the first 6 months plus the whole dynamic of rushed mornings for nursery drop off and juggling that with work we both found really stressful. Yes nursery has been good for somethings and he’s learnt lots but it’s also had its fair share of negatives. I think temperament plays a part also as my boy is quite a sensitive character and has struggled in the very loud busy environment but other friends kids have been more easy going and have loved it :)

We are super lucky and my In laws are helping full time with childcare. So not until 3+. They seem to firmly believe it's not necessary and you can socialise them by taking them to sensory classes if you have the time and means to.

Thank you both so much!

We are aiming for September which will be 9/10months as I am hoping to go back to work 2-3 days a week
