Bit of a predicament

I have precipitous labours, with my first child he was here in 2hours from start of contractions to birth, with my second he was here in 1 and a half hours from start of contractions to birth. I get really strong, close together contractions and then waters break and baby is here within 10 minutes and like two pushes 😅 With my first we lived with someone who could drive and was always around so no issue getting to the hospital and it was like 20 mins away. With my second my Dad lives 2 mins up the road so could be here straight away but the hospital is about 40 mins away. My Dad is the only one who can drive and lives close to us now and his car has just broken down and likely won’t be fixed for a couple of months, if at all. It’s a motability vehicle for my disabled brother but the courtesy car they’ve replaced it with is tiny and only has 3 small seats in the front and room for a wheelchair in the back that can be strapped in and my disabled brother can ride in. There is virtually no room in the front for me to be labouring the way I’ll need to when getting to the hospital given how quickly I give birth. I am not allowed a home birth as I am GBS positive as I have been in all my pregnancies. We live in the middle of nowhere and I’m unsure whether the best course of action is to just ring an ambulance when I start getting contractions as my Dad likely won’t be able to take us, there’s no one else and we’ve already rang our local taxi firm who’ve said it’s up to the driver if they take us as everyone is self employed so it’s their vehicle and they don’t have to take us and may not due to me having a high risk of giving birth in the taxi. Do I just ring an ambulance? I honestly don’t know what else to do

Is it possible for you to rent a bigger car around the due date? It may be expensive but I guess an ambulance is the only other option, if they can be with you quickly enough?

@Nina no, neither me nor my partner drive and my Dad wouldn’t have the money for another vehicle and we wouldn’t either, I’m thinking an ambulance is our only choice but we had a neighbour who literally had a heart attack and was dying right across the road from us on the street and the ambulance took about 40 minutes to get to us. The man was cold by the time the ambulance got there and was long gone even though we’d phoned an ambulance within minutes of it happening so I’m concerned the ambulance won’t get here in time anyway but I don’t think I have a choice because at least if I give birth in the ambulance I’ll have trained people there and the space to actually give birth whereas my Dads car would just be totally useless in this situation. The one he had before was like a massive van as it was for my disabled brother plus all his equipment and extra seats for all of us

Well then that's probably your only option, the only other thing I can think of is to find a cheapish accommodation close to the hospital around due date, which also costs money, or you find a doula/midwife who can potentially be with you sooner than an ambulance 🤷 at least you would have a trained professional with you although she wouldn't have any medical equipment if needed

As long as u can fit in the seat of the car (which if ur dad can I'm sure u can) then can't u just put up with it for the ride to the hospital?
